J. Rhett Lively

Author, Writer, Husband, Dad

For twenty years I allowed the voices of those around me to limit the voices in my mind. Now that age has shown me how lonely life can be when you bend your will to the wishes of others, I’ve decided to pick up the pen again. I write for me. If what you read entices you, great! If you are bored withing the first few lines, oh well. Writing is an art, and no art is appreciated by every soul.

Back to Life
Back to Reality

After the summer of 2025, I have come to realize that our current way of living and raising kids is killing us as a people, society, and church.

Too reliant on our technology, journey with me as I think about how we need to unplug from today’s lifestyle and work to get back the lifestyle we grew up with.

Editorials

Sometimes I simply need to state my opinion on a matter, and sometimes those opinions are strong ones. People who are acquainted with me might quickly find out that at times I can be a jerk when they read these. Honestly, I’m ok with that. If you want to know me, get to know the real me. I’m tired of hiding behind the cover of who others thinks I should be.

Fiction & Poetry

For some time, I have toyed with the idea of several stories. I have never taken the time to put them on paper just because I’ve felt it was selfish to spend time doing what I wanted. In the past couple of years, I have come to realize that it isn’t selfish to enjoy living. Over the next couple of years, it is my goal to not only write these stories, but to start publishing them as well.

Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple.
